56yrs old grandma delivers twins with 39-year-old Nigerian husband

In a story that defies stereotypes, sparks conversation, and stirs deep emotion, Angela Peters — a 56-year-old Australian grandmother of 12 — has become a mother once again. This time, to twin girls, born through IVF in Nigeria with her much-younger Nigerian husband, Bright, aged 39.

Angela’s journey is not just about love; it’s a defiant celebration of agency, courage, and second chances.

From Divorce to Destiny

Angela Peters was 51 when she walked out of a long, unhappy marriage. A mother of five, she described raising her children as the joy of her life. But for years, she admitted, she was not happy.

“I longed to be a wife again, but the last thing on my mind was having more babies,” she recalled.

But fate had a different script.

A Thunderbolt from Nigeria

The story began in 2020 on a dating app. Angela had been chatting with a man named Emeka, who lived in Senegal. Nothing romantic happened — but then Emeka sent a photo of his family.

That was the moment Angela spotted Bright.

“It was like a thunderbolt – I knew this was the man I was meant to be with,” she told The Sun UK.

Bright, who was working as a cook in South Africa at the time, began chatting with Angela. For nine months, they built a relationship online. Then, in February 2021, Angela flew to Nigeria — and just nine days later, they were married in a small civil ceremony in Lagos.

Her family, at first, was in shock. “The kids were horrified when I called to tell them,” she said. “But I knew that once they met Bright, they’d understand.”

A Mother Again at 56

Angela, already a grandmother, wasn’t planning for more children. But her husband, 17 years her junior, yearned to be a father.

“When I told Bright that I was going through perimenopause and wouldn’t be able to have more children, he told me not to worry — that one day we’d have twin girls together,” she said. “I laughed, knowing that was impossible.”

But soon, the impossible started to become possible.

Angela researched IVF, only to find that Australia has a cut-off age of 52. Desperate to make her husband’s dream come true, she even asked her daughters if they’d consider surrogacy. None agreed.

Eventually, while visiting Nigeria in early 2023, a friend suggested exploring IVF there. Angela was skeptical — but the clinics she visited in Nigeria were professional, modern, and willing to go ahead.

With an egg donor and Bright’s sperm, embryos were created — and Angela was implanted.

In December 2023, at age 56, Angela discovered she was pregnant with twins.

Welcome to the World: Khorus & Knowyn

In August 2024, the couple welcomed their twin daughters, named Khorus and Knowyn — the fulfillment of a prophecy Bright had made years earlier.

And despite her age, Angela says it was her “easiest pregnancy yet.”

The couple documented their journey on TikTok, guided by her daughters — the same daughters who once doubted the marriage. Their support helped Angela handle the backlash from online trolls and medical skepticism.

“It was my daughters’ idea to share my story,” she said. “We wanted to inspire other women who dreamed of becoming mums against the odds.”

Family’s Reaction: From Skepticism to Joy

Angela’s 28-year-old daughter, Deina, admitted she was initially afraid Bright was a scammer. When she found out her mum had married him — and wanted her to be their surrogate — she was stunned.

“But when Mum chose IVF in Nigeria instead, it was a relief,” she said. “She’s so incredible with the girls — it’s a wonder to see. Mum has proved that age isn’t a barrier to following your dreams.”

Defying Criticism, Living Boldly

Despite the online backlash, Angela is proud of her decision. She says the twins have brought her family closer — and she now has the life she always dreamed of.

“To women who still dream of motherhood, don’t give up,” she said. “Age is just a number. If it’s what your heart desires, go for it.”

Now Viral, Now Iconic

Angela and Bright’s story — part love story, part miracle, part controversy — has now gone viral on TikTok and global media. But for the couple, the spotlight is secondary.

Their focus is on raising their daughters, building their life, and showing the world that love, determination, and family don’t follow a rulebook.

“We broke all the rules and created something beautiful,” Angela said.

And millions around the world are watching, inspired.
