Ex-Arsenal Star Warns: Osimhen’s Attitude Could Disrupt Arteta’s Squad Harmony

Former Arsenal and France international, William Gallas, has advised the Gunners against signing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, warning that his personality may cause friction with manager Mikel Arteta’s dressing room dynamics.

Victor Osimhen, who has scored an impressive 85 goals and 14 assists in 112 club appearances across Napoli and Galatasaray in the past three seasons, is one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.

The 2023 CAF Player of the Year continues to attract interest from top clubs, but negotiations remain cautious due to the hefty financial demands attached to securing the striker’s services.

Speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas expressed concerns over Osimhen’s potential fit at Arsenal:

“Victor Osimhen is a top-class striker, but I could see him clashing with Mikel Arteta,” said the 47-year-old former defender.

Rather than risk a disruptive addition, Gallas believes Arsenal should focus their efforts on two other forwards who align better with Arteta’s tactical vision.

“Viktor Gyokeres would be a better fit, but if Arsenal truly want to win the Premier League next season, they must sign Alexander Isak,” he stated.

“Isak is perfect for Arsenal. They should go all out for him. He would adapt instantly and give them the best chance of winning the title — they don’t have the luxury of waiting for a striker to adjust.”

Gallas further added:
“Arsenal should break the bank for Isak. He’s a 20-goal-a-season striker, and with the quality players around him, he would deliver. Of course, he won’t come cheap, but he’s guaranteed to bring goals.”

Meanwhile, following the recent departure of Jorginho from the Emirates and with Thomas Partey also expected to exit, Gallas expressed his support for Arsenal’s interest in Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

“Mikel Arteta might have found his own version of Rodri in Martin Zubimendi. He likes to sit in front of the defence and provide cover while giving others freedom to go forward,” Gallas said.

“He offers balance to the team and could unlock more attacking opportunities. Arteta likely studied how Rodri transformed Manchester City and sees the same potential with Zubimendi at Arsenal,” the ex-Chelsea and Marseille player concluded.

As the transfer window heats up, Arsenal fans eagerly await the board’s next move — whether they’ll heed Gallas’ warning and pursue a striker that guarantees goals without upsetting the current team spirit. Updates on Arsenal’s summer signings are expected in the coming weeks.
