JUST IN: Notorious Enugu Native Doctor Arrested While Fleeing – Linked to Kidnap, Ritual Killing of 13-Year-Old Girl

A major breakthrough in a chilling criminal case was recorded on May 29, 2025, as operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos Command, arrested a notorious native doctor, Obi Levi Obieze, at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme expressway while attempting to flee Nigeria on a motorcycle. The suspect is now in police custody over alleged involvement in the abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Isiagu, Enugu State.

Obieze, who is also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, hails from Umuajor village in Enugu State. His arrest followed actionable intelligence linking him to a horrific incident that sent shockwaves through the Isiagu Community.

According to reports, on May 27, the young girl was abducted while walking to the farm with her father. She was later discovered at a shrine allegedly linked to Obieze, fueling public outrage and fears of ritualistic practices in the region.

Confirming the development, Lagos Police PRO, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday to announce:

“ONGOING: @nigimmigration, Lagos State Command hands over wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to @LagosPoliceNG at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja.”

The Nigeria Immigration Service also corroborated the arrest in a statement signed by its spokesperson, ACI AS Akinlabi, on behalf of Comptroller General Kemi Nandap. It was revealed that Obieze had been on the run, with the Enugu State Police Command already in pursuit before the Immigration Service intercepted him.

“The suspect is a male individual wanted by the Nigeria Police Enugu State Command for alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing,” the NIS statement read.

Further investigation found an enrollment slip from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in his possession, which helped confirm his identity. During preliminary interrogation, Obieze reportedly confessed to the crime, deepening the case against him.

The NIS, through swift action at the border point, thwarted what could have been a successful escape attempt—just as Obieze was trying to cross out of the country through Seme on the back of a motorcycle.

This disturbing case has reignited public fears over ritual killings in Nigeria, especially involving native doctors and spiritualist rings that exploit traditional shrines for criminal activity. Locals in Isiagu are still reeling from the trauma, with renewed calls for the government to intensify regulation of such shrines and traditional practices.

Meanwhile, the young girl’s survival has been described by many as nothing short of a miracle. Civil society organizations are already pressing for thorough prosecution, demanding that Obieze and any accomplices face the full weight of the law.

As investigations continue, the Lagos Police Command is working closely with the Enugu State Police to ensure the suspect is transferred and arraigned without delay. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, especially in rural communities where such crimes often go undetected.

This arrest may have stopped one suspect—but the larger question lingers: How many more are still out there?
