“Tinubu’s Nigeria is Rising”: Deputy Senate President Barau Celebrates Two Years of ‘Renewed Hope’

As Nigeria inches toward the two-year mark under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin has declared that the country is firmly “on course for prosperity”—praising the administration’s policies as bold steps toward national revival.

In a statement released Wednesday and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau joined a growing chorus of ruling party voices hailing the president’s performance ahead of the May 29 Democracy Day anniversary.

“Over the last 24 months, under his visionary leadership, Nigeria has been strategically repositioned,” Barau stated, pointing to Tinubu’s resolve in tackling inherited economic and structural challenges.

According to Barau, the Tinubu administration has not only introduced “impactful” policies but has also repositioned Nigeria’s development blueprint with initiatives aimed at long-term transformation.

Citing the creation of development commissions across all six geopolitical zones, Barau said the government is “building equitable growth infrastructure”—an apparent nod to the lingering complaints of marginalization among regions.

He also applauded the administration’s expansion of healthcare and educational access, spotlighting the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which he described as “unprecedented” in scope. He claimed over 300,000 Nigerian students have already tapped into the scheme, which aims to reduce the financial burden on tertiary learners.

On the political front, Barau noted the overwhelming endorsement of President Tinubu’s second term by APC stakeholders as a reflection of confidence in the administration’s delivery.

He reaffirmed the National Assembly’s loyalty to the Renewed Hope Agenda, branding the legislative arm as “a critical enabler” of the president’s reform-driven mission.

Barau rounded off his statement with a rallying call to Nigerians:

“Let us continue to support our leaders, pray for their strength, and remain united as we pursue peace and transformation for our great country.”
